The studio opens

19 September 2016

Visconti Studio opened on 19 September 2016 with a ceremony in the live room. Tony Visconti was awarded an honorary doctorate by Kingston University in recognition of his contribution to studio production, and made a visiting professor.

The studio was declared open the same evening. The British Library and the Science Museum, partners in the research project The Heritage and Future of Analogue Recording and Production, spoke about the work of documenting and preserving the legacy of the analogue era.

Sacha Denton, one of the students from the pilot project, spoke for the group. Mary Epworth and her band played a short set to close.
