The first Winter School
14 February 2017
The first Visconti Studio Winter School ran for a week in February 2017. Students split into two groups in the morning and swapped over after lunch.
One group worked on signal flow between the live and control rooms, the desk, and the Studer A827 two inch machine, including the lost art of punching in and out, taught by the studio technical officer Ebby Acquah. The other spent the morning with Calvin Sheppard on loading tape, lining up, and biasing. By the evening both groups had combined to track a short recording to tape.
The guest artist was Artbreak, who tracked live with the students working out the drum mic setups. Tony arrived on the second day, having won two Grammys that week.
